About Me

Hope for Healing

I am passionate about helping people to experience healing from the negative effects of trauma. It is an honor to be part of a person's journey toward getting their life back. Trauma is a personal experience, and I seek to meet clients where they are. I believe that healing is possible for all types of psychological wounds experienced in life.

EMDR Therapy

I primarily work from the Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy approach, which is an alternative to traditional talk therapy. EMDR Therapy can lessen or eliminate the emotional disturbance of past traumatic memories by promoting healing of the whole person. Many people who have tried talk therapy without success have found this type of therapy to offer the healing they were seeking. I work from an integrative approach that incorporates various modalities that coincide well with the EMDR approach to support effective treatment. I am also certified in Pain Reprocessing Therapy, which is a therapy approach for people with chronic pain and those who have perfectionistic tendencies or those who put high pressure on themselves.

Credentials

My name is Joy Paul, LPC, NCC. I received my master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Liberty University and hold a BA in Compassion Ministry from Moody Bible Institute. I was trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy in March 2019. I became certified in Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) in July of 2022. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Oregon and a National Certified Counselor (NCC).
